City police say two men face trafficking charges following a hit-and-run at a fast food drive-thru Tuesday night.
Around 7:20 p.m., VICE officers attempted to arrest two individuals in a vehicle that were suspected of conducting a drug transaction.
Officers blocked the vehicle in a drive-thru lane in the 200 block of Indian Road South and notified the occupants they were under arrest.
At that time, police said the driver of the vehicle accelerated into the back of the unmarked cruiser, pushing it roughly three metres.
The suspect vehicle then mounted a curb, drove over a boulevard and proceeded westbound at a high rate of speed on Devine Street towards Westbury Court.
After coming to a dead end on Westbury, the suspects fled the vehicle resulting in a brief foot chase. Both were arrested a short distance away just prior to 7:30 p.m.
A search of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of 29.69 grams of powdered fentanyl and $2,356 in Canadian currency.
D’Angelo Raveen Forde, 19, of Toronto is charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle, failure to stop at a collision, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, resisting arrest, assault with a weapon, and driving a motor vehicle while unlicensed under the Highway Traffic Act.
Fredrick McLean Hunter, 43, of Sarnia is charged with trafficking fentanyl.
Both males were being held for a bail hearing.
