Collision reporting centre a hit

Sarnia's new Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) has been busy during its first month of operation.

City police say a total of 177 referrals were made to the CRC between June 11 and July 11 -- officers also investigated 83 "on scene" collisions that fell outside of the CRC criteria.

Police say the early success of the centre has allowed officers to proactively enforce other traffic complaints and community issues.

Sarnia police want to remind the public that officers will not be showing up at minor collisions, unless necessary, and that drivers will be directed to the CRC at the police station if they call in.
