Firehouse Subs setting up in former RBC bank

New life is being brought to the former RBC bank branch at London Road and Finch Drive in Sarnia.

Firehouse Subs is investing up to $450,000 to transform the property.

Area Representative/Franchisee Alex Gerzon said they typically hire 30 to 35 employees per restaurant.

"We have a great presence already in southwestern Ontario with four restaurants in London," said Gerzon. "We're just expanding across Ontario. Sarnia is a great market, and it's a market that we think we'll do really well with."

Gerzon said there's no opening date yet, but they're looking for a local franchisee with strong ties to the community.

There are currently 27 Firehouse Subs restaurants owned and operated by local franchisees throughout Ontario.

Firehouse Subs was founded by brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen, two former firefighters in Jacksonville, Florida, back in 1994.

Since 2005, the company's public safety foundation has donated over $44 million, in the form of life-saving equipment, to first responders in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada.
