DQ Blizzard sales benefit children's hospital

Sarnia's Dairy Queen restaurant expects to churn out about 2,000 Blizzard Treats Thursday.

It's the 17th annual Miracle Treat Day.

Proceeds from every blizzard sold will be donated to the 14 Children's Miracle Network hospitals across Canada.

Sarnia DQ Grill and Chill Owner Lori Lunn said $157,000 was raised across the region last year.

She said the Sarnia restaurant contributed $11,000 towards the Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre.

"All Dairy Queen's across Canada do it, it's a voluntary thing but of course we would do it, it's a great charity," said Lunn. "If somebody's child gets sick in Sarnia-Lambton, they would go automatically to the London hospital so our money goes directly there."

On average, 35,000 children enter a Children's Miracle Network hospital each week.

The Sarnia DQ Grill and Chill on Exmouth Street is open from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.
