Friday fire on Campbell Street deemed accidental

A fire at the front porch of a single storey home in the 700 block of Campbell Street was efficiently brought under control by Sarnia firefighters Friday afternoon.

Sarnia Fire's Roel Bus said quick action by a neighbour ensured that all pets were brought out safely, while the occupants of the house were not at home at the time of the fire.

The damage to the structure, with minor exposure damage to the siding of the neighbour's house and the owner's car, is roughly estimated at $180,000

Bus said the cause of the fire was determined to be a short circuit in a ceiling fan in the front room of the house, and is classified as accidental.
