UPDATE: Lambton OPP investigating fatal early morning crashes

Lambton OPP are investigating two fatal crashes that happened within an hour of each other early Thursday morning.

At around 1:15 a.m. police responded to a collision between a motorcycle and a transport truck on Highway 40 [Modeland Road] between Wellington Street and Confederation Line.

Constable Katie Hill said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 40 between Wellington Street and Plank Road was closed until about 12 noon. Confederation Line was also closed between Finch Drive and Blackwell Side Road for the police investigation.

At about 12:30 a.m. OPP say a transport truck struck and killed a pedestrian on Oil Heritage Road, north of Edys Mills Line in Dawn-Euphemia Township.

Oil Heritage Road reopened between Edys Mills Line and Aberfeldy Line before 2 p.m.

The names of the victims in both crashes had not been released pending notification of next of kin.

OPP technical collision investigators were called in for both incidents.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
