Warwick fertilizer company pleads guilty to bylaw violation

A fertilizer company has pleaded guilty to violating the municipal zoning bylaw.

Warwick Township laid charges against LaSalle Agri Fertilizer December 13, 2018 for non-compliant use of the property, after receiving numerous complaints from the community.

The complaints were about odours from the site at 6059 Nauvoo Rd., traffic and road safety, dust and other environmental concerns.

Mayor Jackie Rombouts said the township will continue to protect the community through the enforcement of municipal bylaws.

"Throughout this situation, council has been steadfast in its efforts to take all possible steps to protect its residents and uphold the township zoning bylaw," Mayor Rombouts said in a news release.

The township said LaSalle Agri Fertilizer will be sentenced December 17 at 11 a.m. in Sarnia and that the public is welcome to attend the sentencing hearing.
