City council considering consultant for strategic plan

Sarnia council will consider hiring a consultant to begin work on a new strategic plan Monday.

Chief Administrative Office Chris Carter says council is being asked to accept a nearly $46,000 proposal from MDB Insight.

"If approved Monday night, the consultant will start immediately," said Carter. "There will be some environmental assessments, with respect to current state, that will begin in mid-September. We will then be looking at preparing some stakeholder engagement, along with internal engagement and external engagement within the community."

He said those interactions are expected in October and November, with a draft plan expected by December and the final report to be submitted for approval in January.

While 11 proponents registered for the bid, only one provided a submission.

Carter added he will be conducting his own internal strategic plan with the senior management team, to coincide with council's, starting September 11.
