Man arrested, another sought in Blackwell Glen thefts

A 45-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested in connection with thefts from vehicles in the Blackwell Glen subdivision.

Police responded to the area at around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, after a resident reported seeing a man on his home security system trying to enter a vehicle in the driveway.

A suspect found on the front lawn of a home was arrested for trespassing.

A search allegedly turned up numerous stolen items in a backpack including documentation that belonged to a nearby resident.

The man is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, trespass by night, and possession of break and enter tools.

Police are still looking for a suspect wanted in a rash of shed break-ins in the same area, which happened sometime between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning. Thieves made off with items including bikes, a bow and arrow and a riding lawnmower. Police say a suspect has been identified and some of the property has been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sarnia Police Detective Jeff Rovers at 519-344-8861 ext. 6159.
