Trucker arrested after $6M in cocaine seized at Ambassador Bridge

A Canadian man has been arrested in the United States after allegedly trying to smuggle $6 million worth of cocaine from Detroit into Windsor.

According to The Detroit News, on Saturday, Jatinderpal Singh allegedly attempted to drive a commercial truck across the Ambassador Bridge carrying 265 pounds of suspected cocaine in multiple plastic-wrapped bricks.

The truck was selected for inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at around 12:30 a.m. after the driver showed "extreme signs of nervousness."  A drug-detecting dog then alerted border guards to the presence of narcotics in the truck.

Using X-ray machines, a total of 120 bricks of suspected cocaine were found within factory-built storage cabinets and under the truck's sleeping bunk. Several empty duffel bags, which are typically used for transporting large amounts of drugs, were also found.

It is unknown if any formal charges have officially been laid against Singh at this time.
