SIU investigating early morning crash

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into an early-morning crash involving a motorcycle.

Around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, an officer attempted to stop a motorcycle that had been reported stolen. It fled and then crashed.

The driver was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Sarnia police said they won't be making any more comments about the incident and ongoing investigation.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

The Indian Road overpass south of Confederation Street was closed until about 2:30 p.m.
