Retired officer charged in alleged road rage incident

A retired Sarnia police officer is charged in connection with an alleged road rage incident in Bright's Grove.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, September 6 officers responded to reports of an assault.

Cst. John Sottosanti said it's alleged the officer followed a man home and initiated a verbal exchange about his driving, before it turned into a physical altercation.

"During the incident, the victim stated that the suspect made reference to being an off-duty officer," said Sottosanti. "The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch conducted an investigation, and Friday morning the suspect turned himself in to be formally charged."

Christopher Moxley, 57, of Sarnia is charged with assault and personating a peace officer.

The retired officer is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on October 15, 2019.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
