Imperials players take home NFC awards

Some Sarnia Imperials players are taking home hardware following the recently completed Northern Football Conference season.

Quarterback Julian Shadd-Gentry and defensive back Tyler Storie have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively.

Shadd-Gentry tossed for 2,086 yards and 20 touchdowns. Storie caught four interceptions, and four receiving touchdowns.

Storie was also named a first team all-star, along with receiver Josh Wright.

Shadd-Gentry, offensive lineman James Eldridge, and defensive linemen Cody Burt and Tyler Whatley all made the second all-star team.

The Imperials lost 43-0 to Steel City in the second round of the playoffs. The GTA All-Stars won the national championship with a 28-0 victory over Calgary.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
