Sarnia-Lambton Terry Fox tallies in

Early morning rain didn't damper Sarnia's 39th annual Terry Fox Run last Sunday.

Organizer Laurie Rome said over 300 people attended the event in Canatara Park.

"We had a pretty good turnout and a little bit of rain, but it didn't seem to bother anybody," said Rome. "We raised $43,952 at the end of the day."

In 2018 the local event generated $37,711, while $85,696 was raised across Sarnia-Lambton.

About 100 people took part in the Alvinston run September 15, raising $44,370, about $115 more than in 2018.

In Petrolia $15,000 was raised.

Proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.
