Officers injured arresting sexual assault suspect, Point Edward man charged

A 22-year-old Point Edward man faces criminal charges after two OPP officers were injured while arresting a sexual assault suspect near Parry Sound.

West Parry Sound OPP were called to investigate a complaint of an unwanted intoxicated person at a residence in McKellar Township at around 10 p.m. Saturday, September 21.

Police were told that three parties had allegedly been sexually assaulted by the unwanted person who had fled.

Two officers were injured while making an arrest after a short foot chase.

One received minor injuries while the other was taken to hospital and was being treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.

Chris Schnieder faces several charges including three counts of sexual assault and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.

He appeared for a bail hearing in Parry Sound on Monday, September 23.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
