Accessibility of Sarnia cabs being assessed

Sarnia's accessibility advisory committee wants to know if the city has adequate taxi service for those living with disabilities.

The group is conducting an online survey to gauge public opinion which will be included in a new provincially mandated plan.

Coordinator Dale Mosley said charting a course of action is well overdue.

The city didn't get its first accessible taxi until about five years ago.

"Basically we want to know if there are enough taxis in the community, whether there have been any issues with taxis, whether there are gaps in services and if there are any reasons why somebody is unable to get a taxi."

You can fill out the survey at www.speakupsarnia.ca until mid-October.

Once the input is gathered, a series of public meetings will be held to gather more information.
