Police arrest cheque scam suspects

It didn't take long after the release of suspect photos for Sarnia police to make arrests in a fraudulent cheque scam.

Thanks to a tip from the public, police said at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, members of the COPPS unit arrested Dusty-Wade Ryan, 32, and Nicole Salisbury, 31, without incident at a central Sarnia home.

The pair were being held for bail hearings on several charges including fraud under $5,000.

Police released photos of two suspects in an ongoing investigation late Tuesday morning.

A man and woman, working together, were randomly approaching victims trying to convince them to cash cheques so they could visit seriously ill or injured relatives and family members in another city.
