Construction of Bear Creek Bridge complete

Construction of the Bear Creek Bridge in Warwick Village is complete -- two weeks ahead of schedule.

The span, which is a vital link on Egremont Road in Warwick Township, has been closed for replacement since the beginning of July.

The newly constructed bridge replaces a single-span concrete bowstring arch structure that was built in 1931.

The bowstring design was very popular in the 1920s and 1930s, but the bridge in Warwick was one of the only ones built with the design in Lambton County.

The new span replicates the original design with its character-defining arches and vertical posts.

The bridge reopened early Friday morning.
