UPDATE: Highway 402 reopens after fatal crash

One person is dead following a four-vehicle crash that closed the westbound lanes of Highway 402 for several hours.

The Ontario Provincial Police said at around 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews responded to the collision between Christina Street and Indian Road, which involved three tractor trailers and a commercial van.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. Two tractor trailer drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Westbound Highway 402 was closed at Indian Road for several hours but reopened early Thursday morning.

No further details have been released at this time.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
