Liquid release reported at Imperial

There was a liquid release from Imperial's Sarnia manufacturing site Friday night.

In a statement issued at 9:30 p.m. the company said a small leak was detected on a butylene sphere.

The Imperial emergency response team responded and the city fire department was briefly on standby.

"The priority at this time is stopping the leak," Imperial Public & Government Affairs Manager Kristina Zimmer said in the statement. "Air monitoring is being conducted but no levels have been detected around the site's perimeter."
