Police say the local community has contributed 50,000 pounds of food over the past seven years.

They're thanking the volunteers that came out to help as well as The Great Canadian Superstore and Wal-Mart for allowing the event to take place at their locations.

The Sarnia Police Association also made a monetary donation towards the can food drive.
