Windy weather Wednesday

Southwestern Ontario is in for some windy weather on Wednesday.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Tuesday advising of strong southerly winds because of a low-pressure system moving over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The statement is in effect for Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex and Chatham-Kent.

The national weather agency says southeasterly winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour are expected to develop tomorrow morning, shifting to the southwest by early afternoon with gusts up to 80 km/h.

Winds are expected to ease Wednesday evening.

Environment Canada warns strong winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
