UPDATE: Freezing rain coats Sarnia-Lambton

Freezing rain developed early Sunday across the region.

Environment Canada's freezing rain warning for Sarnia-Lambton was ended by 11 a.m. Sunday.

The national weather agency said a strengthening low pressure system brought a messy mix of weather to the region.

Several hours of freezing rain or ice pellets, was possible for some areas before transitioning to light rain or freezing drizzle.

Roads, highways and parking lots became icy and slippery and ice build up on trees created the risk of breaking branches.

The disturbance also brought gusty winds up to 70 kilometres an hour.

There were some weather-related cancellations Sunday. Click here.
