United Way campaign still behind with one month to go

Last week was a good week for the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign, which is still trailing behind last year's pace.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they're up about 10 per cent over last week at 75 per cent, or just over $1.42 million.

Brown said with just 30 days left to go, they're appealing to the community to contribute to help them reach the $1.9 million target.

"We've got 22,000 mailers going out to neighbourhoods in Sarnia, Point Edward, Corunna and Bright's Grove," said Brown. "These are going out to everybody. We want to be clear, we are not looking for a second donation, we are just giving everybody every opportunity to make a first time or one-time donation."

The annual Drewlo Stairclimb is set for Giving Tuesday, December 3. Those interested can register until 4 p.m. on Monday.

Money raised will benefit 18 local agencies, which provide 36 programs and services.
