Catholic board ratifies deal with CUPE workers

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board and education workers represented by CUPE have ratified a new contract agreement.

Trustees met in special session this week to approve the deal for 507 custodial, maintenance, educational assistants, technicians and secretaries, members of Local 4168.

The contract, that expires August 31, 2022, includes improvements to language regarding job postings and mutual transfers as well as layoff/recalls.

A wage increase of one per cent in each of the three years was negotiated provincially and ratified in November.

The 55,000 CUPE members voted 79 per cent in favour of the central agreement.
