Rood gets Deputy Shadow Minister post

The rookie MP in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has been given additional responsibilities in Ottawa.

Lianne Rood tweeted on the weekend that she's been appointed Deputy Shadow Minister of Agriculture & Agri-Food.

Rood, a third-generation farmer and businesswoman from Grand Bend, easily retained the Lambton-Kent-Middlesex seat for the Conservatives in last October's federal election.

She won close to 50 per cent of the vote following the retirement of 13-year veteran member Bev Shipley.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
