Record mild Boxing Day in Sarnia

The weather in Sarnia Thursday was as hot as the Boxing Day deals.

The mercury at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport climbed to 11.8 C, 53 F, unofficially smashing Sarnia's previous record high for December 26 of 7 C, 45 F set in 2014. Environment Canada's forecast low of 8 C, 46 F Thursday night is nine degrees above the normal high temperature of -1 C, 30 F for this time of year, and 15 degrees greater than the normal seasonal low of -7 C, 19 F.

The unusually mild Christmas week conditions will continue to the end of the year.

A high of 0 C, 32 F in Sarnia is forecast for Tuesday December 31, with the chance of flurries.

While the mild weather is great for holiday travellers, fog has been a concern.
