Quiet New Year's for city police

It has been a relatively quiet past couple of days for the Sarnia Police Service.

Officers responded to around 140 calls for service on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Calls included 11 alarms, seven noise complaints, six domestic/family disputes, six thefts and three liquor-related offences.

Police said the numbers aren't out of the ordinary, as they typically get about 75 calls daily.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
