City police execute first search warrant in 2020

The Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit seized over $4,500 in drugs and nearly $1,500 in cash in its first search warrant of the new decade.

Officers investigating the trafficking of large amounts of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine were given permission to search a residence in the 100 block of Queen Street on Tuesday.

Officers entered the residence around 10:15 p.m. and encountered a large dog, that was brought under control without incident, and four individuals.

Approximately 6.9 grams of methamphetamine and about 7.4 grams of fentanyl was located.

Two individuals were arrested and charged and two were released unconditionally.

Jayne Candice McGuire, 62, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and four counts of failing to comply with recognizance. She was held for a bail hearing.

A 58-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
