Former Petrolia, Enniskillen councillor dies

A former municipal councillor and board of education trustee has died.

John Phair was 71.

Phair served on the councils of the Town of Petrolia and Township of Enniskillen and on the Lambton Kent District School Board. He ran for the Progressive Conservative party in the 2000 federal election, and was a freelance writer for many publications on topics including local agriculture, history, and current events.

Visitation will be held at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home in Petrolia Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a funeral service at the home set for Saturday at 11 a.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
