Prelim set for Sarnia dentist facing assault charges

A Sarnia dentist facing assault charges has a preliminary hearing set for this spring.

Legal counsel for 48-year-old Kevin Fareed Bacchus, David Stoesser of Sarnia, appeared on his behalf in the Ontario Court of Justice Tuesday.

The matter was adjourned to March 3 for a focus hearing, followed by a preliminary hearing set for May 11. Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there's sufficient evidence to send the case to trial.

Bacchus was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon on October 5 in the 1100 Block of Parkland Place.

A 37-year-old Sarnia man was taken to Bluewater Health for treatment of serious injuries.
