City woman charged with impaired following crash

A collision Thursday afternoon resulted in a 56-year-old Sarnia woman being arrested for impaired driving.

A city police officer came upon a crash in the area of Christina Street just north of Confederation Street and was told by witnesses that a female driver had fled north towards Devine Street.

A security officer in the area followed the woman and pointed her out to police as she walked southbound on Vidal Street.

Police said breath tests at police headquarters indicated the woman was more than four-and-a-half times over the legal limit.

There were no injuries in the collision.

Police said the investigation continues and further charges may be pending.
