Sarnia-born rugby star earns silver medal in Sydney

Sarnia native Julia Greenshields and the Canadian women's rugby team won a silver medal at this year's World Rugby Sevens from Sydney.

The Canadians took down the US, Fiji, Brazil and the tournament hosts, Australia, before falling to New Zealand’s Black Ferns 33-7 in Sunday's final. Team Canada has now reached the podium in four straight tournaments.

Greenshields, a 27-year-old former Sarnia Saint rugby player, has been with the Rugby 7s Senior Team since 2013.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
