Alleged impaired drivers arrested in Sarnia, St. Clair Township

A pair of alleged impaired drivers were arrested over the weekend -- one in Sarnia and one in St. Clair Township.

Sarnia police responded to the area of Exmouth Street and London Road at around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday.

When officers arrived, there was a vehicle on the boulevard and a man outside who identified himself as the driver.

It's alleged the man was showing physical signs of impairment, and there was a strong smell of alcohol.

The 28-year-old from Sarnia was arrested and taken to police headquarters where police allege he blew twice the legal limit.

He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was released on an appearance notice.

At around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Lambton OPP pulled over a vehicle on St. Clair Parkway.

Police allege the driver was showing signs of impairment and failed a roadside breath test.

A 62-year-old man from St. Clair Township was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on March 2, 2020.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
