Local PJHL hockey playoff recap

The Mooretown Flags hammered the visiting Dresden Kings 11-1 in the opening game of their PJHL quarterfinal playoff series.

Trevor Bogaert led the way for the Flags with two goals and an assist.

Blake Howard, Cameron Rannie, Garrett Miller, and Greg Hay each had a goal and two helpers.

Nolan Farr, Daniel Fraleigh, Dawson Winchester, Dawson Vautour, and Brody Genyn also lit the lamp.

The Flags outshot Dresden 64-38, with goalie Jake Wilkins turning aside 37 shots.

Kings goalie Aiden Lucyk was pulled after giving up five goals on 18 shots. Connor Ogg made 40 saves on 45 shots faced in relief.

The series continues on Friday in Dresden before the Flags host game three on Saturday night at the Moore Sports Complex.

The Petrolia Flyers lost 3-2 in Amherstburg in their playoff opener.

Michael Vanek and Zach Bressete scored for the Flyers.

Cody Schneider scored twice for the Admirals, and Michael Ruttinger scored the game-winning goal early in the third period.

Petrolia goalie Jakob Knowles made 40 saves on 43 shots faced. The Flyers directed 22 shots at Amherstburg netminder Aidan Pitre.

The series continues on Thursday night at the Greenwood Rec Centre in Petrolia.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
