Global Donuts celebrates Fat Tuesday

Staff at Global Donuts have been working around the clock to get ready for Fat Tuesday.

Owner Gus Pantazis said they could sell 24,000 of paczkis Tuesday.

"Seems to me that this year has probably been the busiest year so far leading into the big day," said Pantazis. "I think we're going to be pretty close to our record, if not breaking it, which is close to 2,000 dozen. It will be pretty close to that, I'm hoping."

He said the London Line restaurant is making ten different varieties of the deep-fried, sugar-coated, fruit-filled pastries.

Pantazis said he is asking that people look at their Facebook page first, to decide what kind they want.

Paczkis are eaten as part of the Shrove Tuesday feast in advance of 40 days of Lent which begins Wednesday.
