Legionnaires fall to London in double overtime

Despite another impressive effort, the Sarnia Legionnaires lost 2-1 in double overtime to the London Nationals in GOJHL playoff hockey action at the Brock Street Barn on Thursday.

London now leads the best of seven first round playoff series two games to none.

Cameron Ware scored 2:41 into the first period to put Sarnia ahead 1-0. London's Josh Castle tied the game 1-1 early in the second.

The game remained tied 1-1 until Jacob Chantler scored on the powerplay 2:03 into the fifth period to cap the London win.

The Legionnaires penalty kill was outstanding, killing off seven of eight chances against including five in a row.

Nolan DeKoning shined in the Legionnaires net, turning aside 48 of 50 shots faced.

London goalie Brock Baier made 32 saves.

The two teams square off for game three on Saturday in London. Sarnia hosts game four on Sunday night on CHOK.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
