UPDATE: Damage estimated at $75K in Kathleen Avenue fire

Damage is estimated at around $75,000 in a house fire on Kathleen Avenue Monday afternoon.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze near East Street South at around 3:40 p.m. to find smoke and flames coming from a single unit.

The unit was heavily damaged in the fire, and an occupant was treated by Lambton EMS and taken to Bluewater Health.

The fire department said the cause was determined to be accidental. They're reminding residents to be careful when using candles.
