Warwick 'homestyle' maple syrup festival, sweet distraction from pandemic

Warwick Township is making sure residents can still enjoy some locally-made maple syrup during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Warwick's two festivals have been postponed, so the municipality is hosting a "homestyle" version on Easter Sunday.

Community volunteers will deliver an invitation and a small bottle of maple syrup to all homes in the municipality this week.

Deliveries will be done by screened volunteers and all COVID-19 safety precautions will be taken.

Then, on April 12, residents are asked to post photos of themselves celebrating in their home with their families on social media with the hashtag #WARWICKisSWEET

You can also email photos to the township at whatsup@warwicktownship.ca, and they'll posted on the town's website.

Mayor Jackie Rombouts said this is a great way to stay connected during the pandemic. "This homestyle event is to have fun and let the community know we’re all in this together. Council can’t wait to see the photos of all our local families enjoying our locally made maple syrup on April 12th."

The festival is being done in partnership with the Watford Optimist Club, the Watford Rotary Club and the Watford and Warwick fire associations.
