Arrest made after Sarnia woman left bleeding from attack

A 23-year-old Sarnia woman is in police custody following a stabbing in the 400 block of Kathleen Avenue on Saturday morning.

Sarnia police were called at around 4:20 a.m.

They said a 34-year-old woman was bleeding profusely after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. Police said she was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries and remained in hospital in stable condition.

Police said they were able to determine a suspect with help from witnesses, and a woman was located a short distance away.

Sarah Jenny Bressette, 23, of Sarnia was in custody pending a bail hearing on charges of assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
