UPDATE: Durand Street fire investigated as suspicious

A house fire on Durand Street in Sarnia late Wednesday morning is being investigated as suspicious.

City police said one of their officers came across smoke billowing out of the front of a residence at 136 Durand St. just after 11 a.m.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services and Lambton EMS responded to the two-storey, brick home, between London Road Public School and Maxwell Street.

A cause of the fire, which resulted in extensive damage, has yet to be reported.

Sarnia police said firefighters are investigating the incident which appears to be suspicious.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
