London man remanded in custody in Sarnia homicide

A London man, charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of a Sarnia woman, has been remanded in custody until month's end.

Owen Clarke, 34, appeared by video Friday and had his case put over to May 29 when he's to appear again by video at 8:30 a.m.

Clarke, who was arrested by Sarnia police Thursday, April 23, is accused of killing 29-year-old Sarah Marie Thwaites in what police called a “vicious assault".

Sarnia police responded to Palmerston Street North near Cobden Street just before midnight on Friday, March 13, to investigate a report of a female in distress. The mother of infant twins was rushed to hospital where she died.

Police have not released other details including whether or not a weapon was involved, saying the investigation is ongoing.
