Sarnia police issue warning about Alzheimer Society scam

Sarnia police are reporting a phone scam involving the Alzheimer Society.

They said a woman got a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Alzheimer Society and was asked for the phone numbers of her friends with dementia.

She hung up and didn't provide any further information.

Police said the Alzheimer Society would not phone the public unprompted and would not ask for credit card information.

We're reminded that if anything sounds too good to be true or very peculiar, hang up and don't give out any information.

Those with concerns should research a proper contact number for the agency in question and make the call using that number and not the one given to you by the scammer.
