Over five pounds in gold bars, along with marijuana and a stolen vehicle, have been seized by border police following a wrong turn at the Blue Water Bridge border crossing.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said on Thursday, a driver made the wrong turn in Port Huron and ended up on the Blue Water Bridge heading into Canada. The driver turned around on the bridge and attempted to re-enter the United States, however, a check by a CBP officer found that the vehicle had been stolen.
The driver, a woman from Eaton County, Michigan, was taken into custody without incident. Following a search of the vehicles, border police seized gold bars weighing over five pounds and 30 grams of marijuana. The value of the seized items has not been released.
The woman has since been transferred to the custody of Michigan State Police, along with the gold, marijuana, and stolen vehicle.
