Young male arrested after two assaulted with various weapons

Sarnia police arrested a young male after two people were seriously assaulted with various weapons early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Christina Street South at around 12:45 a.m.

They arrived to find a 22-year-old man who had been severely beaten, lying on the front lawn of an apartment building with no clothing on.

Cst. John Sottosanti said the victim was able to muster enough strength to leave a residence in the area and collapsed where police found him. The man was treated on scene by paramedics.

Police said a 59-year-old man, found at the residence, had also been severely beaten and needed medical attention.

Police have not disclosed what weapons were used in the assaults.

Both victims remain at Bluewater Health in serious but stable condition.

A suspect, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and faces two counts of aggravated assault, one count of break and enter, and two counts of failing to comply with a court sentence.

The accused remained in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
