City council wants annual 'state of the county' address

Sarnia council wants an annual "state of the county" address.

Bill Dennis' request for a presentation from the County of Lambton's Warden and CAO was endorsed by his city council colleagues Monday.

"The city contributes approximately 50 per cent to the county budget," said Dennis. "I believe a presentation once a year would not represent any undo time commitment burden by the warden and the county's CAO, and would be very good for city/county relations."

City and county Councillor Mike Stark agreed.

"I think it increases the educational value for non-county representatives," said Stark. "It's important to understand the different priorities that the county delivers vs. the city, in terms of service delivery priorities and social services are a very important and significant contribution to the county."

Councillor Terry Burrell and Nathan Colquhoun didn't support the motion.
