Sale of South Plympton school closes during pandemic

South Plympton Central School has been sold but details about the buyer or future plans for the site are not yet known.

Lambton Kent District School Board Superintendent Brian McKay said the sale of the building and associated lands at 4741 Confederation Line in Plympton-Wyoming closed April 17.

"The sale had closed before the COVID shutdown started, but the actual closing date happened during the shutdown, so that made it interesting to complete the transaction," said McKay.

He said money from the sale will go back to the board and be used for other school properties and maintenance.

"We were able to sell the building for its appraised value of just over $200,000."

McKay said he could not provide details about who purchased the property or any plans for the site.

Plympton-Wyoming, at last report, had not received any development proposals.

South Plympton Central School closed in June 2018, and its primary students merged with Wyoming Public School on Thames Street in September 2018.
