Number of proposed Sarnia-Lambton pot shops now at four

There are now four applications for pot shops in Sarnia-Lambton before the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

The latest in progress before the commission is The Cannabisery at 1173 Michener Rd. in Sarnia.

Also in progress is Natures Buds at 1362 Lambton Mall Rd. Unit 20.

The public notice period for Sessions Cannabis Sarnia at 600 Murphy Rd. Suite 105A ends on July 2.

In Grand Bend, an application is in progress for The Bend Cannabis Co. at 19 Main St.

The Doug Ford government announced late last year that it was abandoning its previous lottery system and moving to an open market for retail cannabis stores beginning in January of this year. A temporary cap on the number of private cannabis stores in the province was removed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
