Ontario extends emergency orders

The provincial government is extending all emergency orders for at least another 10 days.

On Saturday, the Ford government announced that all emergency orders currently in place will be extended until July 10.

The extension of the emergency orders will allow the government to make key measures in the fight against COVID-19, including allowing frontline health care providers and public health units to redeploy staff where they are needed most.

According to the announcement, it also provides the province with the tools needed to successfully get through the next stage of reopening and beyond.

"While we have made truly incredible progress in our fight against COVID-19, thanks to the collective efforts of our frontline heroes and the people of Ontario, we know that we must remain vigilant," said Premier Doug Ford. "These emergency orders will allow us to take action, if necessary, to ensure our continued success as we reopen our province and get more people back to work."

On June 24, the provincial government announced that it's extending the state of emergency in Ontario until at least July 15.

The state of emergency allows the province to continue to make or amend emergency orders.

In addition, the provincial government announced on Saturday that it will be easing certain Stage 2 restrictions for indoor sports and recreational fitness activities facilities.

The change will enable facilities to be used by more businesses and organizations to train amateur or professional athletes or to run certain non-contact amateur or professional athletic competitions.

A full list of emergency orders can be found on the Government on Ontario website.
