UPDATE: Sarnia police investigating report of shooting in Bright's Grove

Police are looking for a suspect after a 49-year-old man was shot in a Bright's Grove neighbourhood Friday afternoon.

Sarnia police Constable John Sottosanti said officers responded to a reported shooting on Franklin Avenue, east of Waterworks Road, just before noon.

"At approximately 11:54 a.m. we received a call in regards to a male party that was injured at this location in the 1900 block of Franklin Avenue in Bright's Grove," Sottosanti told Blackburn News at the scene.

Sottosanti said a 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and officers were searching for a suspect.

"We do have a suspect that we are looking for, but we are still gathering more information in regards to his descriptors. We do not believe that this was a random incident. We believe that this was specific."

Sottosanti confirmed at 2:30 p.m. that the victim was in critical but stable condition.

He said officers would be maintaining the crime scene as detectives and forensic officers continue their investigation.
